Setup Guide
How to Connect WordPress to Publytics
Set up Application Passwords in 3 minutes and start publishing AI-generated content directly to your WordPress site.
Requirements
Before you begin, make sure your site meets these requirements:
- ✓Self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org, not WordPress.com free plan)
- ✓HTTPS enabled — Application Passwords require a secure connection
- ✓WordPress 5.6 or higher (Application Passwords were introduced in WP 5.6)
- ✓Administrator access to your WordPress dashboard
Go to Users → Profile
Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard. In the left sidebar, navigate to Users → Profile. This opens your user profile page where you can manage your account settings and application passwords.
Scroll to “Application Passwords”
Scroll down the profile page until you see the Application Passwords section. This section lets you create passwords that third-party applications (like Publytics) can use to authenticate with your WordPress REST API without using your main login credentials.
Enter “Publytics” and Click Add New
In the New Application Password Name field, type Publytics. Then click the Add New Application Password button. This name helps you identify which app is using the password later if you need to revoke it.
Copy the Generated Password
WordPress will display a new application password. It looks something like abcd EFGH 1234 ijkl MNOP 5678. Copy this password immediately — WordPress will only show it once. If you lose it, you will need to create a new one.
Add Your Site in Publytics
Go to your Publytics dashboard, navigate to Sites → Add New. Enter your WordPress site URL, your WordPress admin username, and paste the application password you just copied. Publytics will verify the connection and you're all set to start generating and publishing content.
A Note About WordPress.com
WordPress.com free plans do NOT support Application Passwords or REST API access. To use Publytics, you need a self-hosted WordPress site. Popular hosting providers include Bluehost, SiteGround, Hostinger, Cloudways, and WP Engine. If you're on a WordPress.com Business or eCommerce plan, you may have plugin access that enables this feature.
